Support the Needham History Center!

It is our joy and pleasure to present our programs to the public, which we do without charge so as many people as possible can share them.  We also work with the town and community organizations on projects that not only teach about our history, but also enlighten our discussions of current issues.  It is our undying and unshakable belief that an appreciation of local history is key to all the forms of community engagement that keep our town such a great place to live.  Programs (to name only a few) like –

  • the history of slaveholding in Needham (with the First Parish in Needham)
  • recovering the voices of women and people of color in Needham’s history (with Needham Pubic School teachers)
  • Needham’s Walk through History (now online!
  • our schedule of monthly talks (
  • the Walk to Arlington, to commemorate Needham’s participation in the Lexington Alarm (with Needham 1775 – coming this spring!)
  • Talks for community organizations such as the Center at the Heights, Needham Rotary Club, and others

It is YOUR generosity that make our programs possible, and all of the other events in our schedule. We are entirely supported by our Members and Sponsors. We do not receive funds from the town or the state.

In addition to supporting the work of the History Center, Members receive our quarterly newsletter, the Gazette, as well as discoutns on rentals and events.  Business Sponsors receive PR recognition, program presentations, facility access, and other benefits.  Please take a look at our Membership and Sponsorship pages for the details (including a very good deal on reciprocal memberships you should also check out).
