251 years ago, Nee dham residents helped repel British attacks on Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775. The Needham Militia’s 12.6 mile march to join the battle started at the Townsend Green (Nehoiden and Central Ave) and ended in Arlington by the Jason Russell House (which still stands at 7 Jason Street). The fighting in Arlington was some of the heaviest of the day, and five of Needham’s own gave their lives in the first battle to create our nation.
For the last six years, Needhamites have been following in the footsteps of the colonial militia, as they marched to fight the British at Lexington. This Walk combines history and community to tell the story of that day, and Needham’s important role in the battle.
You can support the Needham2Arlington Community Walk as a Sponsor! Sponsorship helps to defray the costs of the Walk, and supports the programs and events of the Needham History Center & Museum. Sponsors receive notice in all of the Walk’s PR and collateral and their logo on the N2A T-shirt worn by all participants. Sponsors also receive a free ticket for the event (walk or ride – your pick!), which includes the lunch, tour, and shirt.
For more information about sponsoring the Walk, contact Gloria Greis at gr***@************ry.org.
Sponsorships typically range from $100-500. You can pay online HERE (add a Note that the donation is an N2A Sponsorship), or send a check payable to the Needham History Center at 1147 Central Avenue, Needham, MA 02492.
