Deja View: Life in Needham through the Cartoons
of
Needham's Bob Larsen
On view at the History Center now!

or many years, Bob Larsen drew a weekly cartoon for the Needham Times, commenting on the town’s current events and concerns. His observations were witty, but affectionate; barbed, but never mean. Bob was deeply involved in town affairs, and a keen observer of his fellow-townsfolk. This exhibit of some of the best of Bob’s cartoons, as well as some of his commercial artwork, is a chronicle of the events, old friends, urgent concerns, and all of the ins and outs that weave the fabric of our community.
Photo: Bob Larsen in his studio, c. 2010. Although he is best known in Needham for his weekly cartoon in the Needham Times, Bob was by profession a commercial artist and most of his work was for advertisements. He also did several very successful fundraising campaigns for organizations such as the Washington National Cathedral and the effort to restore Old Ironsides.
