Needham2Arlington Community Walk

April 22 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

As he sent the Needham militia off with his blessing on the morning of 19 April 1775, the Rev. Samuel West was worried. He had reason to be – what was a small group of farmers with minimal military training doing, going up against the strongest army in the world?

Follow in the footsteps of the Needham militia, retracing the route that they took on their way to Lexington on April 19, 1775.  Arriving late in the day, they were diverted to Arlington, where they met the retreating British forces for the bloodiest battle of that historic day.  The Walk includes lunch, and a tour of the historic Jason Russell House, where the battle took place.  The Russell House is now the home of the Arlington Historical Society.

In Arlington, there will be a box lunch for participants, and the Arlington Historical Society will give tours of the Jason Russell House.  Registration is required to participate.  Contact Gloria at greis@needhamhistory.org or 781-455-8860 to register.
